Phil Robertson, ‘Duck Dynasty’ Patriarch and Devoted Family Man, Dies at 79

Phil Robertson, beloved patriarch of the Duck Dynasty family and founder of Duck Commander, has passed away at the age of 79. The news was shared by his family on Sunday, May 25, following his courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease, which they had made public late last year.

Robertson’s legacy stretches far beyond television fame. His son, Jase Robertson, honored him with a heartfelt message on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “My dad has gone to be with the Lord today! He will be missed but we know he is in good hands… We will see him again!” Granddaughter Sadie Robertson Huff also paid tribute on Instagram, sharing cherished family memories through a touching photo collection. Willie and Korie Robertson added, “We celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord,” thanking fans for the outpouring of love and prayers. They also noted that a public celebration of his life would be shared in due time.

A Louisiana native, Phil built a remarkable life from humble beginnings. In 1972, he founded Duck Commander, a hunting gear company that started with his patented duck call invention. His values of faith, family, and hard work helped transform his small business into a nationwide brand, eventually becoming the foundation of the hit A&E reality series Duck Dynasty. The show, which ran for 11 seasons, captured the hearts of millions by showcasing the Robertson family’s strong Christian values, humor, and unity.

Even after the show concluded in 2017, Phil’s influence remained strong. The Robertson family expanded with new marriages, grandchildren, and spin-off series like Duck Family Treasure. Earlier this year, A&E announced that Duck Dynasty: The Revival would premiere this summer, bringing the family’s story back to television and continuing Phil’s legacy for a new generation of fans.

Phil’s final years were marked by both struggle and strength. Despite the progression of Alzheimer’s, his family remained steadfast in their love and care. Jase described their journey as one of compassion and resilience, saying, “We’re making him comfortable, and we’re doing the best we can.” His passing is a profound loss, but also a reminder of a life well-lived — one centered on faith, family, and the simple joys of nature.

As tributes pour in from fans around the world, Phil Robertson will be remembered not only as a TV icon and entrepreneur but also as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and man of deep faith. His story, values, and enduring spirit will continue to inspire for years to come.
